Approve minutes of the meetings of August 2, 2001 and special meeting August 21, 2001 Motion to approve made by Comm. Brennan, seconded by Comm. Camardo. Motion carried 3-0.
Motion made by Comm. Welch to go into Executive session to discuss Personnel. Seconded by Comm. Brennan. Motion made by Comm. Camardo to go back into regular session. Motion seconded by Comm. Brennan. Motion carried 3-0.
Old Business
1. Planning Department
Motion made to extend the provisional Administrative Assistant appointment in the Planning Dept. Citing New York State Civil Service Law 65.2, the Commission agreed to the extension request which was presented per memo from the City Manager. Motion made that the provisional will not be certified on the payroll after October 7, 2001. Motion made by Comm. Brennan , seconded by Comm. Welch. Motion carried 3-0. Memo to follow to City Manager City Treasurer and Corporation Counsel .
2. Fire Department
Motion made to approve the roster and establish for Firefighter exam # 65-200. Motion made by Comm. Camardo, seconded by Comm. Brennan. Motion carried 3-0. List established for four years. Agility test to be scheduled by Ed Wagner at his earliest convenience.
3. City Manager
In response to the memo from the City Manager requesting that the moratorium be lifted, the Commission has decided that at their meeting to be held on September 7th the a decision will be reached on the position duty statements for the positions that were held for the results on the survey. These decisions will be made with or without the results of the reclassification survey. A memo to be sent to City Manager regarding this decision. Also, Chairman Welch will call Ray Greene, Director of New York State MSD , concerning the length of time for the survey results.
New Business
1. Planning Department
Motion made by Comm. Welch to approve the eligible list from Cayuga County for Senior Planer. The duties, minimum qualifications and subject of the exams were all deemed to be comparable. The City of Auburn will approve the county list # 63-882 for city use in order to appoint Jennifer Haines as Senior Planner. Ms. Haines currently works for the City of Auburn in the Planning Department. Motion seconded by Comm.Brennan. Motion carried 3-0.

2. Public Works Department
Job duty statement submitted to this Commission for review . The position is currently in the City listed as Water Meter Repair Person. The public works dept head , Jerry DelFavero, feels that the position has evolved into more than a repair person and has a higher percentage of job duties in the water back flow assignments. The duty statement will be sent to Steve Matthews, our MSD representative, for review.
3. Personnel changes per attached
